The tow took nine hours, and for eight of them Aldex Oled sat in the left-hand seat of a ship he no longer had any way to fly and worked on the only problem left to him, which was the problem of a stuffed animal. The Wayward hung on two cables at the end of a Crown tug, nose down four degrees, and every twenty minutes or so the cables took up some slack and put a long shudder through her from the spine outward, and each time Aldex felt the aft coil housing answer it with a low grinding note that no housing should be able to make. She was finished.
