Excerpt
The library breathed. It was not a metaphor. The walls of the Coral Script Archive pulsed gently with each shift of the thermal current beneath it, expanding and contracting like the ribcage of some enormous sleeping creature. Bioluminescent algae threaded through the living coral emitted a soft cerulean glow that shifted in intensity with the water's temperature, casting the vast chamber in perpetual twilight. Scrolls of pressed kelp and tablets of calcified coral lined every surface, thousands of them, organized according to a classification system so ancient that even the archivists sometimes argued about its logic.
