The first time I ran Claude Code on a real project, I expected a capable autocomplete. What I got was something closer to a junior developer who had already read the entire codebase, remembered every decision I had made in the last three sessions, and asked clarifying questions before touching anything it was not sure about. That experience changed how I thought about working with AI tools. It stopped being a question of whether to use them and became a question of how to design the working relationship deliberately.
